Sainik School, Korukonda was established at the behest of Shri Jawaharlal Nehru, Nation's first Prime Minister and Shri VK Krishna Menon, the then Defence Minister.   The school informally began on 10th Sep 1961 when Smt Bhagirathi Devi, Rani Saheb of Vizianagaram at the instance of her husband,Lt Col Maharaj Kumar Dr. Vijayanand Gajapati Raju (Sir Vizzy) gave the Korukonda Palace to their nephew, the great philanthropist and educationalist Shri PVG Raju, Raja Saheb of Vizianagaram who gifted this palace to run Sainik School. The school was formally founded by Commander T De Almeida, the first Principal of the school in 18th Jan 1962. The School now ranks as one of the best schools of this country.

AIM:

The primary aim of Sainik School Korukonda is to prepare boys academically, physically and mentally for entry into the National Defence ACademy. The other objectives are:

1. To remove regional imbalance in the officer cadre of the Defence Services.
2. To develop qualities of body, mind and character which will enable the young boys of today to become good and useful citizens of tomorrow.
3. To bring public school education within the reach of the common man. 

ADMISSION FOR CLASSES VI & IX: 2014-2015
IN SAINIK SCHOOL, KORUKONDA (VIZIANAGARAM DIST) &
FOR CLASS VI IN SAINIK SCHOOL, KALIKIRI (CHITTOOR DIST)

Age Limit: (a) Class VI – Boys born between 02 Jul 2003 & 01 Jul 2004 (both days inclusive).
                 (b) Class IX – Boys born between 02 Jul 2000 & 01 Jul 2001 (both days inclusive)
                  and should have passed class VIII from a recognized School before admission.

Curriculum: 10 + 2 System of CBSE

Entrance Examination: 05 January 2014 (Sunday) 

Examination Centres: Guntur, Hyderabad, Karimnagar, Cuddapah, Tirupathi, Nellore,
                                      Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Ananthapur and Kurnool

Reservation: S.C. 15%, S.T. 7.5% & Defence 25%

30 Nov 2013 on all working days (or) may be downloaded from the School website:

filled and sent alongwith a DD for Rs.475/- for Gen / Def category or Rs.325/- for SC/ST category
towards Registration in favour of the ‘Principal, Sainik School, Korukonda’ payable at State Bank of
India, Sainik School, Korukonda Branch, Code No.2791. Application Forms downloaded from the
